Grammar: Pain or Balm?
As I'm sure that all ESL students know by now, English
grammar can certainly be a royal pain in the ass, but it
doesn't have to remain that way. Keep in mind that you are
the CEO of your English. As such, you should see grammar
and use it as a tool. Don't get bogged down in a host of
rules. Instead, boil them all down to useful chunks of
information that work for you. The best grammar guidelines
are those that will ensure that your grammar is correct most
of the time. Aiming for 100% is not only unrealistic, it will
actually undermine what you are aiming for: fluency.
