When going on vacation, I prefer to travel rather
than staying at home for three reasons.  First, for me, it is a
great pleasure in life to explore unfamiliar places to learn
new things.  While visiting Cancun, Mexico last year, not
only was I able to enjoy the beach, I also learned so much
about the ancient Mayan civilization during an excursion
to Chichen Itza.  In that mysterious place, I found that there
were pyramids and other structures made of stone by a
population of jungle dwellers over a thousand years ago.
What impressed me even more was the Mayan writing system
and their advanced knowledge of math, science, and astronomy,
which is something I may have never known without my trip.

With the verb
be, the subject comes before the verb as you would expect.

However, with the verb
there be,
the
subject comes after the verb.
